Love Bites

My loyal readers know that I've thoroughly enjoyed nursing my little girl. It's always been so tender and sweet to hold my little Mia and know that I am her sole source of sustenance. Every moment that she plays with my shirt and gazes up at me has been precious, that is until she sprouted a tooth. Her first tooth has given her even more reason to open wide and shove everything she can get her little hands on into her mouth to test out her new skill. Well, my breasts have not escaped. Mia has chomped down pretty hard a couple of times. While I have no marks, let me tell you, it HURTS and makes me fearful that she will do it again. I'm practically sweating while nursing her, afraid that she'll clamp down on me.

I've screamed and shouted, "No Biting", but all she does is give me a blank stare. She's even looked away once. No crying or acknowledgement that she's done something unacceptable. Does this foretell our future together when it comes to discipline?

In my five month career as a parent I've never been envious of other parents, but today I envy those who have babies that teethe late. Oh how I wish Miss Mia was a late bloomer when it comes to teeth.

Time to dig up the Lansinoh. I'll apply liberally.

And for those who are interested, Papa Bear arrive in Guatemala City safely. He'll be back in less than seven days.

At least you didn't have that fever/swelling of the breast (I forget the name)... Soojin had that way too many times to count! And the sheer pain it causes... I wouldn't want that in anyone...
