First Sewing Projects

After taking the sewing machine basics class last Sunday, I embarked on my first project, a nursing cover. It's not perfect, but I managed to complete it last night using this pattern. The only part I skipped was the boning at the collar area. I couldn't find boning and figured I could do without it. Will probably try to make another one if I find fabric I like.

On my first trip to Eddie's Quilting Bee, I bought a very pretty flannel with flowers and butterflies on it to make Mia a throw blanket for her new big bed. I finally finished it tonight. Again the stitching is not perfect, but I'm sure Mia won't notice.

A few days ago, I took her to Joann's to get some needles and browse the fabrics. There were no shopping carts and Mia was wandering beside me (most of the time), but she kept fixating on fabric with hearts. She would pull out the bolts of heart fabric and say, "Maybe Mama likes this one" or "How about this one?" In the end I didn't buy any fabric because I wanted to use up the fabric I already have, but she kept asking for a heart blanket. I kept telling her she was going to get a butterfly blanket instead. On Saturday morning she woke up and asked Ken, "Where's my heart blanket?" So now that I'm done with her butterfly blanket, we'll go shop for some heart fabric. . .
