Elmo Freak & Mia's YouTube Faves

Elmo lives everywhere, he's ubiquitous, especially amongst the toddler set, so we can't escape him. I suspect that even if we tried, Mia would not forget Elmo.

-Mia has one Elmo t-shirt that Aunty Sarah bought her before we left Seattle. She loves that shirt and would choose to wear it everyday if given the option. One day Mia remembered that she last saw the Elmo shirt in her hamper. She dug through the hamper removing all her clothes in search of her Elmo shirt. We had put it in the laundry without her knowing it. It took some major distraction to get Mia to forget about her quest.
-On another occasion, Mia kept asking for Elmo after her bath. Earlier in the day, the doctor she saw gave her an Elmo sticker. Basically she wanted the sticker which was no longer sticky. The girl would not let up, so I had to put the Elmo shirt over her footed pajamas. She looked ridiculous, but slept happily with Elmo as her armor. I do find it odd that Mia does not use her stuffed Elmo as her lovey at bedtime.
-As soon as I pulled into Mia's doctor's office last Friday, she started saying, "A yi, Elmo, a yi Elmo." It basically means, "Aunty Elmo, Aunty Elmo." She remembered that she got an Elmo sticker last time and wanted another Elmo sticker from the aunty (what we call the doctor). We had to wait a long time in the exam room and the whole time, Mia would not let up and kept asking for an Elmo sticker. After the exam the doctor gave Mia two Elmo stickers.

So to mark Mia's year of Elmo obsession, we bought her an Elmo costume for Halloween. The look on her face when we tried it on yesterday was priceless. I am sure the costume will get a lot of use.

Mia watches a couple of YouTube clips of Elmo everyday. She now has requests. Her top request is "Y". It's Norah Jones singing, "I Don't Know Y" with Elmo.

With Anna, we tried to hold off as long as possible (till she was about 2 years old) from showing her TV... then with JJ, because his sister was already watching TV, it was near impossible to start him late. Their first show was Blue's Clues. :)
